Empty

I lived my life just like a candle that’s been burned at both ends

It’s in that silence just after midnight; I hear the calling of my true friends

Me, I’ve always been selfish and judged people by what they could do

To help me and my advancement

Well I never tried to change ’til I met you

And yes we all walk alone in confusion

We seek companions for the night

And in the morning, it shatters that illusion

’Cause we wake so empty inside

You have the nerve to call me a liar, but the truth can change from day to day

I’m like that candle about to expire in the last dancing gasp of a flame

And yes we all walk alone in confusion

We seek companions for the night

And in the morning, it shatters that illusion

’Cause we wake so empty inside

And I don’t cry out for an angel

I’ve done too much damage in my own time

And I don’t ask to make excuses

I just search for an alibi

The candle’s gone from my window, but I still see the outline

Of two hearts shaped by darkness and the recklessness of our minds

And we all walk alone in confusion

We seek companions for the night

And in the morning, it shatters that illusion

’Cause we wake so empty inside

Wake so empty inside

Wake so empty inside
