Eyes of Sarah June

Well she don’t smile the same in pictures

It’s been a while and I still miss her

She warned me not to fall

Then she press me against the wall

As I tried to put my thoughts in a letter

My mind tells me just forget her

But my heart still can recall

Yes, I remember

I’d look in her direction.

To stare into the eyes of Sarah June

And in the morning light’s perfection

The feeling stays through the afternoon

When the sun comes up and I feel my time coming

Like a number adding up to nothing

All those moments just replay

And I breathe out her name

She was red, wild, chaos

Shockwave of beauty mixed with dangerous

Like an echo capturing time

Twisting a thorn into my side

I’d look in her direction.

Stare into the eyes of Sarah June

In the morning light’s perfection

The feeling stays through the afternoon

Looking at her photograph

She’d smile so reserved

A pale cover version

Of the original seldom heard

And it can cut you up

The memory sustained and singing

While the last notes still ringing

A forest fire stare

Turned into mist in thin air
