The Sweet Sound of Protest

Hey mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters we must make a stand

It’s time to come together for the sake of our fellow man

No time for complacence - all people all races

Call out the powers of hatred tearing up our shared land

This is the sweet sound of protest

Rising with the dawn

We’re coming here together and we’re marching on

It’s more than something that can

That can wake you up in the middle of the night

It’s not a call to violence, but to stand for what we know is right

Smoke screens and confusion - mystified disillusion

Don’t fall prey to the hatred

Speak loud and know your rights

Sing out the sweet sound of protest

Rising with dawn

We’re picking up the flag and marching on

We’re here to make a stand It’s time to sing it loud

The world is in our hands As we stand our ground

Time to use your voice C’mon on bring it on

The world is in our hands I say “give it to me now”

We got the sweet sound of protest

Rising with the dawn

I got my guitar and I’m playing on

Some hide in silence – they’re scared and wondering what’s the use?

We’ve got the power of three chords and the truth

No fear will divide us. Their lies won’t hide us

Don’t turn your back on your neighbor

Because one day they may come after you

Sing out the sweet sound of protest Rising with dawn

Gonna stand up together and march on

Hey mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, we must make a stand.
